Wireless Apps > Ping Pong POW!™

Ping Pong POW! is table tennis with a pyrotechnic twist. The longer the rally, the greater your ability to put away your opponent with one of three POWer Shots. Where you aim and how you spin the ball can mean the difference between victory and defeat.

There are three modes of play: Practice, Single Match, and Tournament. Play "Best of Three" or "Best of Five" against a variety of opponents. Each win improves your ranking until you're #1.

Features

  • Three modes of play: Practice, Single Match, and Championship, which consists of three tournament rounds with a more difficult opponent in each round
  • POWer Meter rewards player for long rallies
  • Action and scoring are just like real championship table tennis
  • Ranking page with personalization for high scores
  • Hours of continuous play

Starting a New Game

To begin the game, select "Play" from the Main Menu. You'll then be invited to choose your game mode:

  • Championship - A three match tournament
  • Single - A single match
  • Practice - Rally without scoring

In both Single and Practice Modes, you will be asked to choose from among the five internal opponents. In Championship Mode your three opponents will be randomly chosen for you.

How to Play

During a match, the serve alternates between the two opponents after every two points. Every time your opponent is unable to return one of your shots, you get a point. If you hit the ball into the net or off the table, your opponent gets a point. You must let the ball bounce on your side of the table before returning it. Timing your shots properly is the key to success.

Serving Control Keys:
  • 4: Serve to the left
  • 5: Serve to the center/initiate opponent's serve
  • 6: Serve to the right
Return Shot Control Keys:
  • 1: Shot to the rear left
  • 2: Shot to the rear center
  • 3: Shot to the rear right
  • 4: Shot to the front left
  • 5: Shot to the front center
  • 6: Shot to the front right

Moving to the Ball: In Manual Paddle Mode only:

  • 7: Move to the left sector
  • 8: Move to the center sector
  • 9: Move to right sector

In Automatic Paddle Mode, the paddle moves automatically and these keys serve no function.

POWer Shots: The POWer Meter goes up each time you successfully return the ball during a rally. Once you have hit the ball five times (not including the serve), press the 0 key to initialize the POWer Shot. Press the 1, 2 or 3 key to perform the POWer Shot of your choice.

  • 0: Initiate POWer Shot
  • 1: Deadball
  • 2: Slamball
  • 3: Chaosball

Some of the better opponents may hit a POWer Shot from time to time.

Scoring: Should either player establish a 7-0 lead, the game ends. Otherwise, the first player to score 11 points wins, unless both players score 10 points. In a 10-10 game, the winner is the first player to gain a lead of 2 points.

A match is either best of three games or best of five games. You can choose the length of your match by selecting "Game Type" on the Options Menu.

The Ranking screen displays the ranking of anyone who has won a tournament or a single match on your handset.
