How to Play

Object: The object of the game is to complete each course and upgrade your Jeep Wrangler from Sport to Sahara to Rubicon. To do so, you must traverse each course without crashing before time runs out. Along the way you can gather outdoor gear, and each time you do, you'll gain a little extra time (which is essential to complete each course). But be careful: if you drive off the road, it will slow you down; and if you crash, you're done! A purple bar at the top of the screen shows you how much of the course you have completed.

Driving: To accelerate, press UP (or 2). To brake, press DOWN (or 8). To steer, press LEFT (or 4) and RIGHT (or 6). The speedometer in the lower right corner shows you how fast you're going.

Power-ups: Each location offers three different pieces of gear, represented by colored disks in the roadway. Each time you pick up a piece of gear (by driving over a disk), it is worth a 10-second power-up, but the bonus is only temporary. To keep it active, you have to continue to pick up the same piece of gear along the road. If you manage to activate all available power-ups at the same time (by picking up each available item), you'll earn a 100-point "sweep" bonus. Colored circles at the top right of the screen help you track how many power-ups you have activated.

Gear: There are three pieces of gear to gather at each location:
  • Baja (3 items): rope, axe, bike
  • Rockies (3 items): snowshoe, snowboard, carabiner
  • Beach (3 items): kayak, scuba, surfboard
Scoring: Points are awarded only at the successful completion of a course (in other words, if you fail to complete a run in the allotted time, all points accumulated during that run are forfeited). Scores are calculated as follows:
  • 25 points per Power-up
  • 100 points per Sweep
  • 3 points for each second left on the clock when you finish
  • 20% bonus for completing a Challenger run
  • 50% bonus for completing a Pro run
The top score for each terrain is recorded on the High Scores screen.
